What does it mean to complete the movement of a variation and how do you have the time

Fred: Let's just day you are entering the floor to do any dance you choose. You set yourself and your partner and listen to the music. In your mind you select a pattern to execute and voila! off you go. Now, let's say that after the pattern you have selected is complete, the song ends as well.
At that point, you should've allowed enough time to complete the pattern you selected and be ready to begin the next song. Initially when one is learning,the patterns seem to take longer than the song allows. However, when one becomes more proficient with the selected pattern it is almost as if there is more time than is necessary rather than the opposite.
Bottom line is execution of the pattern. Done correctly, there is enouigh time to complete the pattern and prepare for the next. Owen
