Sorry for the stupid question, but i noticed that when you register your account then there is a question about your dance skill, well i don't know if i am a proffessional or amateur, that's why i put amateur. so i could use your advice. i am 18 years old and dances have been my passion for 11 years now, but comparing to these proffessionals who are dancing for 25 years, the i think that i am an amateur. what do you think?

Do you get paid to dance, teach, or compete? That's what makes you a pro. Length of time dancing is actually irrelavant.

If you are a ballroom dancer and are planning to compete, you might want to think further about whether you want to call yourself an amateur or professional. There are different options for competing under each category. Unless dance is your regular source of income, you may still qualify as an amateur and that may be to your advantage. Many pro competitors competed and did well as amateurs before turning pro.

well i know that there are different categories. i competed for 8 years, but i quitted last year.now i only go to the local contests and with friends who dont have a steady partner.i competed in standard and latin dances.dancing is not my only income, it makes about 60% of the whole income.its not much, but i can live with that
