boys usually lead the girls and girls have to submissively follow.should boys show how flexible they are by making a split

I've seen men do splits in Latin dancing. So hey, if they can do it and work it into the choreography, then why not?

Ellen. Our teacher does'n't use the word follow. The words used are lead and the lady reacts. If the lady follows, that's what will happen.She will be led and consequently will be chasing the beat. So nothing looks clean and sharp, especialy in Latin.

Cardex. Former Latin Champion Tores of Germany. Always did the splits in his routine. I have him on tape when somebody got in his way, he went clean through the man's legs doing the splits in the Rumba.
If your partner can do the splits and come out on time why not.

Don, wasn't that Formica? If not, he did that too at the German Open- it makes me laugh when I watch guys do that and then come out on the other side with a straight face =)

Juice 23. You are correct. The name is Franco Formica. Wasn't he also known for a series of very slow spins. That splits was usually close to the end of the music. Thanks
