hi!

I'm interested only in foxtrot videos having a slow, quick, quick tempo (NOT a slow, slow, quick, quick tempo). Skill level intermediate/advanced, but non-competitive (social only). Please provide me with information to "kansascity_curtis@yahoo.com" and/or a catalog to me c/o 4344 Mission Rd. Apt #3, Kansas City,KS 66103. I prefer to error on the side of "more challenging".I dance 5 times a week in all areas (ballroom, swing, salsa, country, argentine tango, etc). Thanks Curtis

Moving the body through the SQQ figures is a bit more challenging and as a result you probably only will find this material presented as if for competition, but you can certainly dance it socially with a compatible partner.

My perspective is probably very limited; I'm an amateur dancer, not a teacher. But I was taught AMERICAN style foxtrot as SQQ from the very beginning. I never learned SSQQ, and when I see it done it looks odd to me. So my experience is consistent with what you want to learn. The odd thing is that on this forum and elsewhere now, I have been told over and over that bronze American is very definitely SSqq, so I have learned to accept that- and ignore it.

The foxtrot variations of the week, tho, are all described as American style, and all use SQQ, not SSQQ, so when the smooth dvd comes out (when, Jonathan????), you should get that.

Otherwise, I suppose you will have to be contented with some of the very good foxtrot dvds produced by DanceVision. The videos by Jim and Jenell Maranto are done very well; try the Silver, not the Bronze level, because the Bronze will be SSqq.

Hope this helps.
