What is the proper hip action in samba? Is it similar to the other latin dances?

Samba movement is completely opposite from my prospective of the movement in any other latin dance. For istance in Rumba you should make figure 8s with your hips same in cha cha besides the snaping movement on your cha cha cha. And Jive is all about high knees but, in Samba its all about the movement in your pelvis for instance in your foward basic the pelvis comes up shorting the distance between your hips and your abs and then coming down making a circle with your hips. It also gives that illusion of the so called rise and fall.

Danzerpassion. Well written. I know what you mean, but the greater majority wont have a clue. There is only one way to learn Samba and that is a good coach, preferbly one who has, or is on the International scene.
