Percussive Beat.

Hi,
Could someone please help me to understand and hear what the 4th beat in the Rumba music is. Reading a Latin Technique book it states that there is a percussive accent on the 4th beat. Thanks.

Down conduct sign on the musical accent ( 1 , down, 2 left , 3 right ,4 up ). You may find the time signature is clear. My father taught me that when I was 3 years old.
Sometimes , the accompaniment rhythm may play as 3/4 1/8 1/8 ,1/2 1/2 , 1/2 1/2, 1/2 1/2 .

Curious. It is possible to dance a Rumba to a Foxtrot disk. There you will not find a percussive beat on four. A true Rumba will. There is a vocal
Chris De Burgh's "The Lady in Red ". If you listen and can count you will pick that fourth beat easily. The song is included and is currently available on one of the Ultimate Latin Albums WR2CD-5042. Best Wishes.
