Suite101.com is a longstanding web magazine that's going through a major overhaul, redesign and relaunch. The site's Visual and Performing Arts Editor (that's me!) is seeking a writer who can cover the world of competitive ballroom dance for an international audience, as well as other social dance forms like contra and swing dancing.
Writers are asked to publish a weekly 250-400 word article as well as a "blog post" of about 200 words, keep their topic homepage up-to-date with polls, contests, news and so on, and respond to readers' queries and posts. They receive a modest but gradually increasing fee of $2 per 1,000 page
views (this may not amount to anything for the first few months, but some site writers are now making between $25 and $250/month after three months).
This position would best suit either an established writer who wants to have a large amount of editorial freedom and to learn more about web publishing, or a beginning professional who wants to get their work out there. (Academics and practitioners are welcome to apply!)
To apply, candidates should have a look at the Visual and Performing Arts section of Suite 101, then e-mail a resume and pertinent writing samples to Sarah Hood at visualperformingarts@suite101.com.
Thank you!
