ALL WORLD CLASS EVENTS CANCELLED! Recent international developments have resulted in the IDSF establishing a Professional Division separate from the existing IDSF competitive structure. As a result, the current World Class proficiency level established last year, which included Regulated Athletes is in conflict with the new direction taken by the IDSF. Consequently, USA Dance is eliminating the World Class proficiency level effective July 3, 2006 and will combine all World Class events into Championship events at the 2006 USA Dance National DanceSport Championship. The combined event will take place on the currently scheduled Championship time slot. World Class competitor entry fees will be refunded.

Locally there has been something going on about this too.

No longer allowed to call it a "Pro-Am" or it keeps you out of other events, etc.

Some sort of power struggle obviously.

Bob, I really have very little idea as to what the IDSF is up to. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see!

I think I remember there was some kind of meeting held in Genever to lay the foundation for the IDSF Grand Prix and the Professional equivilent to join together. Wouldn't you say that both parties would have to change their constitution for this to happen. Either that or form a new society to embrace both.
