Recently a studio director asked students what makes a good studio. Someone suggested the topic to teachers, what makes a good student. Teachers, I'd like your input.Thanks.

There was a discussion about this a while back, sadly I cant find the threat even though I spend the past 30 mins looking...
I did find a followup threat though started by Dancer, named "a good student is..."

Hopefully the link below will do the trick:

I am a student rather than a teacher, but one thing that makes our teachers happy, is that we practise what they teach us. They seem to really appreciate that we remembered and worked on what they covered in a prior session.

I'm a teacher in another area, but i think the factors which make up a good student are fairly universal.
here's my views:
1)The student works on and practises whatever the teacher has asked them to work on or practise (Dennis's point - absolutely correct). It's frustrating to give work which would be of great benefit to students, only to find they haven't bothered to do it. If the students want a big commitment from a teacher, they must make a big commitment too. Many students forget this, thinking the teacher is only there for the money.
2)The student asks questions if he/she doesn't understand something. Being afraid to ask questions is a huge impediment to learning. Why are questions necessary if the teacher explains things well? simply because something which the teacher thinks is easy to understand (because they always understood it well) may be a difficult concept to another person.

I see your point. Teachers, like other professionals want to do a good job, for them that is evaluated on how well their students progress. So anything that leads to student improving, makes them a desireable student. Practising, being attentive, enthusiasm etc..

That explains why our teachers always seem to like us, even though we our not a major source of revenue for the studio. We practise, we go out dancing once a week and dance a lot when we go out. We always are mentally into the lesson. We also try hard, sometimes to much . I also really try to understand the dance and not just learn the mechanics.
