Dance Shoes

I have recently started dance lesson at a local Elks club. I am having trouble with my shoes. Because I am diabetic I have to be careful with my shoes fitting correclty. I would like to purchase a regular pair of dance shoes but do not want to do this over the internet. How would I go about finding a store in my area that sells dance shoes? I live in the Ann Arbor area in Michigan. Any help would be much appriecated.
Thank you

Check the yellow pages for dance supply stores. Or call local ballroom dance schools, they will either sell them there or know of a local store. (IF you have a Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray they almost all sell shoes)

Some shoe sellers will advise you to get your dance shoes very tight. Don't let them pressure you into a shoe that doesn't work for your feet. You don't want your foot to slide inside the shoe, but it doesn't have to be really tight.

If you end up having to use the internet, most companies will sllow you to return shoes if they don't fit, as long as you only wear them on carpet. You might try dancehappy.com. They sell a shoe called Godiva (in a couple of different versions). The shoe laces in front, so that you can adjust it to your foot. (Oh, I'm assuming you are a woman. If not, ignore this info!)

Teresa. You must be carefull as you already know about the fit of the shoe being a diabetic. No rubbing or blisters. Most of the lady teachers here for Modern or Latin, who are on their feet all day, wear a training shoe they are black in colour and have a soft leather upper. They wouldn 't be suitable because of the colour for a competition. Most manfactureres produce this shoe. google. superdance shoes, at the bottom you will find superdance. then new shoes, then practice shoes Shoe 1025 has a smaller heel. Its worth having a look at all the shoes they have to offer. One thing though, they are among the best and the dearest.Good Luck
