Sore Ankles

Can anyone tell me the best way to help my sore ankles. It seems to be the muscles in the back of my ankle. I just started dancing a few weeks ago and haven't worn heels in years until now. Any help would be appreciated.

There are no actual muscles there, just tendons. If they are sore, then maybe some gradual stretching exercises would probably help; make CERTAIN to take it easy at first.

Hi Kittie
i'm not a qualified medical person, but have lots of experience of sports injuries, including ankle problems.
First, make sure it is a muscle problem and not ligaments or achilles tendon problem. sometimes hard to tell, but ligament or tendon problems tend to linger on for weeks or months (depends on your age).
Your muscles are being used in a new way, so they will be a bit sore. After a month or so, the strength will build up and the problem will go. Make sure you stretch after dancing. Do a calf stretch. Hold it for at least 20 seconds, relax and then repeat.
It's hard to diagnose remotely. If i were in your position, i'd go to a good physiotherapist
