Question about Shoes

I have a question about shoes. I was told that Supadance was the best choice in shoes, however, being a person that does not normally wear heals I still find that I have trouble balancing in them. Someone told me its because they are 2.5 inch heals vs a smaller heal does the heal size make a difference? Is there anyway to help with the balancing issue?

Practice makes perfect. The only way for a female dancer to improve balance on heels is to actually wear heels a little bit daily. 2.5 is actually, in my opinion, a small heel. I have two pairs, a 2.5 Capezio shoe and a 3.5 performance shoe. Try to keep your weight on the balls of your feet and keep your upper body forward. This will release some tension and make balancing easier.

There is no one best shoe. There are lots of quality shoemakers and it often takes trial and error to find the kind of shoe that fits your foot best.

You don't say how long you've been dancing or what your goals are, but if you are a beginner and/or don't have plans to compete at a high level, there's no reason to wear heels that are uncomfortably high. You may have to special order, but you can get shoes with 2 in. or even 1 1/2 inch heels.

Two brands I like are Celebrity and Eckse, the latter especially I've found is the best balanced latin shoe for me.

The heels do play a role - so your balance would be better with smaller heels.
But also practising helps.

There is no ultimate-best-shoe - it depends on the shape of your feet which brand is the best for you. try some.

Thanks for all the advice/opinions. I have been dancing in the shoes for about 6 months. I will never forget the first time I got them because it was the day before a competition so needless to say that was a painful day.

I do try to stay on the balls of my feet but after about two hours I noticed that I start getting sharp pains.

I suppose all I can do is keep practicing.

Thanks again for the help.
