Jive timing help!
Posted by Anonymous

Jive has 3/4, 1/4 , 1 timing. Also can be counted 1a2 or QaQ. Each step is taken on to a flexed knee. The big question: On the 1 or on the 2 as the beat strikes is the knee flexed, or has it already straightened? If the knee is still flexed does it mean that it straightens on the following "a" count?

Thanks

No straight knees in jive. The accentuated beats are 2 and 4. If you are serious, only jive to the correct music. Not just anything otherwise you might finish with a 1 and 3 accentuation

sorry, but jive does not have straight knees. it does not have as drawn out a bent knee action as rhythm swing, but their bend is still an integral part of the dance
