I heard that the legendary Martial Artist Bruce Lee was a ChaCha champion. Never confirmed it myself though. It'd be a fun fact to look for.

In a competition at the champion level, one heat (involving the Waltz, Tango, VWaltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep) will use up the same energy and effort as when a sprinter running the 400 metres. The only difference is we are in a wool suit or high heels--and trying to look like we hadn't just run 400m.

Ballroom dance requires the endurance of a marathon runner, the strength of a high jumper, and the grace and control of a ballerina--again all of whom get to wear comfortable clothes, whereas, we get to wear wool suits.

Did I say we wear wool suits? I meant we SWEAT in wool suits.

Is this what you were looking for?

And some of us do our sport in false eyelashes and 3 inch heels!

Yup. Tried the 3 inch heels with the tailsuit, though. Didn't quite go together. I think it was the cut of the coat. The judges frown on that for some reason. I think the clincher was the false eylashes.

Skitty. The Foxtrot got its name from a vaudville comedian who as part of his act did something like a series of trotting steps to 4/4 ragtime music,I was told it resembled a Moonwalk and was a comedy thing. His name was Harry Fox. So when this new dance came into being they called it the Foxtrot. It was a lot different to now. In those early days the Feather Step was a Lock Step and the Reverse Turn had a V. Cross in it. The character which it still has today. It goes more in a straight line or linear than the other dances. Just Google the name Harry Fox you will find a whole heap of information there. Its about the third down. Best of Luck Don.

Yes, indeed, Bruce Lee was the "Crown Colony Cha-Cha Champion" (Hong Kong).
I remember reading about this in a biography of Bruce Lee several years ago.
