I am a guy and love working with a well trained high level female coach.
Most guys will never go back to a male coach after experiencing a very good female coach, except for maybe technique tips.
I dance and take lessons from a female pro that still competes and takes very high level lessons herself. It is like I am living a dance dream--I am so lucky to have her in my area to dance and work with me. She is very calm, upbeat, and positive with her teaching--plus she is tall like me. After every lesson I feel great and amazed at what we accomplished.
We are doing a 2 min. 45 second Int. Rumba showdance routine now and we have done about 20 lessons on it now--it will probably take 15 more lessons to get it close to right. She has a theater arts background and we are doing some lifts and dips. We plan to showcase and compete with this routine. I could have never done this with a amateur partner--it would have taken 200 lessons.
Men pros are in more demand since there are more ladies that are willing to pay and etc. But, guys until you have experienced dancing and taking lessons from a very high level female pro you don't know what you are missing. By the way, a good female pro will dance with you and without any type of backleading. She will move better than anything you have ever experienced--believe me I have been there and done that with the amateur ladies.
Yes, Karina on dancing with the stars would be one of the dream female pros to take lessons from and dance with.
The Russian mentality of "pain and suffering before gain" would be something worth putting up with.
