Christmas Present for Instructor

I have been taking private lessons for about a year and half and wonder if any of you give a Christmas present to your instructor and if so, what would be appropriate. We did not give one last year but were out of town for most of December.
Thanks,
Jeweltea

If your instructor is with a studio they may not allow gifts. I have given my instructor a christmas/end year thank gift and I get a gift certificate
to Borders books.

I've given him things like a book I know he was looking for, a Starbucks card, a cup with a dance quotation on it, etc. Not too expensive or too personal.

We usually give something like a gift certificate to a resturant or something along those lines.

Like katzuks said, you might first want to check that they dont get into trouble. When I got my instructor flowers for her birthday I had a small talk with the studio owner first wether that would be ok.

Thanks for the ideas. He is the owner (it is a very small studio with him and one other instructor).
