4&1 lady into fan position, both man's and lady's feet are closed

23 man back L, back R; lady forward R, forward L, still in fan position

4&1 man chasse in place LRL, lady forward R, forward L, forward R (or forward R, together LR) still in fan position and preparing to turn the lady left (inside turn), lady coming across the man

23 lady's inside turn; man's rock step RL with a small back step on R, man turns slightly to R to face lady on the 23

4&1 chasse - man and lady facing each other, it can be done in place, I like to travel forward with it. Tendency for the lady to turn too soon, on the 4&1 instead of the 23

Miles and TT. I'm not sure you are helping here Miles. These are the ladies steps If this is the International Style of Cha Cha. the lady is standing LF behind and RF in front. Thats the Fan Position. The RF draws to the LF with a weight change and step forward LF on the beat of three, this is all part of the Hockey Stick. To continue the Latin cross is on 4 and 1( lock step ) Then forward LF diag to centre. RF in place on three and turn the end of. Latin Cross L. R . L. 4 a 1. ready for one backward walk which is the first of a back basic.. Instruction needed there.
Mens steps are all Basics. With the lady in Fan the man does a Checked Forward Walk. Weight Transfer in place. Compact Cha Cha Cha Chasse LRL. Backward Walk on beat 2 (which is step 6). Weight transfer in place. Cha Cha Cha lock R L R. Ten steps for the man. Ten steps for the lady. You are both ready to start a front basic for the man and a back basic for the lady. As I said instruction is needed. All of the above can be found in a technique book. Walter Laird's book is easy to understand. It is the official IDTA Technique of Latin Dances. Good Luck. It sounds hard but it is not difficult at all.
