The theme song All I Ask of You in the Phantom of the Opera, what type of dance would one apply to this kind of music? Thank you kindly.

If you are taking the music as it is played and sung from the show. You could do a Foxtrot. But you would have to listen to the underlying beats and not the vocalists if the timing is to be danced correctly..

Yes- def an int'l style foxtrot would be nice, but not easy. One couple who did something like that (a foxtrot to an operatic song) was when Victor and Anna danced to Il Dive on DWTS http://youtube.com/watch?v=3FcIL0RK2nE

A very slow syncopated Intl Rumba.
Lots of line work, lots of pauses.
With all due respect, I wouldn't do it to a Foxtrot.
To deliver an expressive punch, a good Foxtrot number needs a lyrical lilt (eg Michael Buble's 'Fever') that 'All I Ask of You' doesn't quite have.

I still think an int'l foxtrot would work- check out that video- it's not a typical foxtrot, but still. I know Andre and Natalie did a rumba to a song from Phantom but I don't remember which one- it was really beautiful, esp with a live opera singer on stage with them. I think either a rumba or foxtrot would work fine.

Honest diff. of opinion.
I did take a look at the Victor/Anna Foxtrot before my prev post.
IMO it didn't have the expression or the punch it could have had, were they dancing to a stronger song.
Don't get me wrong--I'm not panning their abilities--I've competed against Victor in the past.
I know the quality of his dance.

I still hold to that opinion with Phantom...

BTW, Andre/Elena did a beaut. Rumba to 'Oblivion' (an Argentine Tango tribute to Master Astor Piazzola--by the Ballet Argentine Tango[?]).
Wasn't sure if you were referring to that performance (Amer Ball Chall? Not sure).
It had an awesome lift and roll though.

I'm talking about Andre and Natalie Paramonov from Canada. But Andre and Elena's rumba is really nice too. I can't wait to see all of the latin showdances tmrw night
