I was listening to a discussion which i believe is worth repeating. There is little attempt to encourage the general public to a competition. The spectators are the competitors with a few parents thrown in. The promoters have a captive audience. They know by the entries and are happy to leave it that way.
Except for the TV Dancing with the Stars type program there has been nothing done to promote Ballroom Dancing to the general public. Somebody is saying but we dont have the venues to hold a lot of people. Do what has been done in Russia. Use an Ice Hockey Staduim. Possibly 10,000 people can be seated . The sound system and food outlets are in place all that is needed is a portable floor. For those watching the Swimming World Championships will know that the pool is in four pieces and is suspended over the Tennis Court that Federer and Roddick played on in the Australian Titles and will be dismantaled within 48 hours after the completetion of the swimming. Even the water is going to the local Botanical Gardens. With todays technoligy nothing is impossible. A portable dance floor would be the least of the worries.
