Men's Latin shoes

I have a pair of Ray Rose Thunder and Supadance 8001 Latin shoes with 1 1/2 inch cuban heels. I have used a 1" Latin heel in the past and am moving over to the 1 1/2 inch heel on my coachs recommendation. I know that I can do technique better with these higher heels, but they still feel weird--like I am walking on small stilts.
I am going to keep practicing and dancing in them until I get used to them. Has anyone had problems adusting to higher Cuban heels and what did you do to get more accomplished with adapting to higher heels. My feet and legs are strong, but it just feels different--but my Latin technique feels better.

What do you use as an all around shoe for latin, standard and dancing socially? Don't think I could do Standard with Cuban higher heels.

I thought that 1.5" was the default heel on men's latin shoes, 1" perhaps being available in children's sizes. Ray rose offers a 2" heel that gained some popularity.

I think 1 1/2 inch heels are the standard. I can't imagine wearing 2 inch heels. The 1 inch heel is a option by few companies. Guess it's for dancers with stability problems or not too serious about Latin.

Here is the scoop. 1" heels are for standard dancing and just dancing socialy. 1.5" heels are for people who are serious about their latin. As far as getting use to it goes it manely takes just that getting use to them. It takes time. As a women who has worn every height from 1.2" - 3" I know how difficult it can be to change heel heights when you are not use to it.

Also the brand you wearing can have something to do with it to (to some degree) As a well made shoes will offer you more support and stability. I recommend Amys After 5 brand as they seem to offer more support then other brands. They are also fully padded from the heel to the toe and unlike other brands I've tried the padding does not flatten out right away so it stays cushioned longer. They are a fairly new brand but I find them to be more comfortable and made of better materials then even the top brands. And they are 1/2 the price of the top brands! (About $70) Plus my balance improved when I started wearing them and they don‘t wear out as fast as other brands. I defiantly recommend giving them a try.

Anonymous. Don't do standard in a Cuban Heeled shoe. It's not possible.
The reason for the Cuban Heel in Latin shoes is to put the weight towards the balls of the foot where it is supposed to be for Latin.

I have never found the actual heel height a probem in cuban heels, but the heel SHAPE means that a smaller area is in contact with the floor, and it is THAT that takes getting used to. Presumably, the ladies are used to dancing on very narrow heels (much narrower than any man's cuban heel, of course), so they are used to it, and we aren't.
