Is there a dance that you don't particularly like to dance, your least favorite?
If I had to pick my leat favorite dance it would probably be the Foxtrot because its so....I don't know, but I tend to like the faster dances better.

Ooh, I love west coast swing and hustle! And Night Club two-step is so flowing and pretty, yet kind of sexy and romantic...

Michelle, I know it's sometimes hard to practice a dance you don't particularly like, but if you can spend some time working on Viennese waltz you should be able to get over the dizziness. I had that problem when I started, too, but I can't remember exactly why. With some classes and practice though, it became easier to dance and I didn't get as dizzy. Changing the direction of the turn semi-frequently can help avoid the problem, too. Sometimes at the end of the dance I'm a little dizzy because I didn't get a chance to unwind the last set of turns. But if you do it right, you shouldn't get dizzy in Viennese waltz. It's really not quite as rotary as some people seem to believe. Yeah, you are turning more than in most dances, but the primary motion of the dance is linear, along LOD.

As for the original topic, I'm not sure I have a particular least favorite dance. I find merengue pretty boring because there's not much to do in the way of foot steps and I haven't learned much of it, so I can't do all the twisty, turny things everyone else does to make the dance interesting. Hustle looks fun, but I've never really learned it and may not because something about dancing a repeating 3 count pattern to 4 count music just doesn't go well with the musician in me. I wouldn't say I despise any particular dance though.

Wow! Thanks! Actually we do change turn after every four (or more? or less? I lost count ) rotations, but I also think it has to do with my partner "dragging" me around. He has several partners, so he can't adjust his lead (which is actually very strong) to me, especially since I'm not his primary partner. I hardly do anything out of my own strength because I don't get the chance to Maybe that has something do to with it too?

Hm, this is easier than favorites. Viennese Waltz! I do it ok, but it's so blasted difficult...and tiring...and frankly, scarey when you're on a dance floor with a bunch of other people!

ok...... a few of my least favorites..

american waltz- especially SLOW american waltzes! Gods I feel like I'm about to fall asleep when I'm doing them.

mambo/salsa: I actually love these dances but I have such a hard time finding the right beat so I just kind of do my thing and hope that I'm on the right timing.

Merengue: again, very boring.

samba: Normally I would like this dance but it's again, I find it a little boring plus when I was learning it, it was drilled into me so hard that it killed all the fun in the dance for me.

I think those are all my least favs.

The question everyone should ask themselves before starting each day: Quo Vatamus

The Foxtrot is also one of my least favorite; I will absolutely not do West Coast Swing and don't think I care that much for Hustle

Probably Paso, since I don't really know it.

For Foxtrot to be enjoyable at all, you need to be able to take long, long strides, and you also need the ability to have absolute control over your center, so that you can glide across the floor. Stomping through a foxtrot or a slow waltz is very unpleasant.

Hmm, well, I guess that I don't have a least favourite, because all the dances beside my "top 4" (which changes by the week, btw, haha) all rank on #5 Buuuut, if I had to pick one: Viennese Waltz! Because it makes me dizzy!

Merengue is probably my least favorite dance simply because it lacks variety, pizzazz, and that certain je ne sais quoi the other dances have. It is however a great conversation dance for socials. It's easier to carry on a whole conversation while dancing Merengue than it would be dancing Viennese Waltz, I suppose.
