What CDs do you recommend to newbies looking for a practice CD? Ideally, this CD would have a variety of dances on it. Thanks!

Tony Evans and his orchestra have a lot of Ballroom CDs available via iTunes (much harder to find as actual CDs).

For example:
The Blackpool International Dance Festival 2

with a URL at
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=201771706&s=143441

This CD has two tracks for each of 10 dances. All good tempo.

GordonR. Why would you go any further than you are now. To your left click on shopping then CD's. If you want a disk that has Quicksteps as well as Rumbas all on one disk you will be a bit hard pressed. Good Luck.

You can also check out the vendors at local competitions (you can listen before you buy)

DanceVision is clearing old stock right now:

http://dancevision.com/store/music/discontinued_cds/

I picked up about 75 as at these prices they're very popular with my wife's beginner group class students.

Note: DV charges $8 S/H first item and I think $2/item after.

They had the 2CD Ballroom Mix and Latin Mix sets but they're all gone now. That series is particularly good (IMO) and considering how expensive Ballroom music can be a pretty good value.

I like Ballroom Mix II and Latin Mix II the best and haven't heard #IV yet. They're produced by Casa Musica and usually sell for around $34.95. Each 2CD set has 40 or 41 songs.

I see Ballroom Mix IV is available on this site for $29.95. (S/H???) I assume Latin Mix IV will be the same price:

IMO the series is pretty good for the price.

Anna,

Yes, they are double CDs.

I have I & II.

Best price I've seen here in Canada is $35.95 and I belive the series is $34.95 at DanceVision.

$29.95, if correct, would seem a good price.
