Michael Buble's Save the Last Dance for Me

Your opinion: When dancing to this song, is the music part Rumba and part Cha-Cha or totally Cha-Cha? I have been choreographing both for dance routines, but I see cha-cha being danced throughout the song. I guess it's how one feels to the music. Do you agree?

Thanks.

I only have a 30 second sample to listen to, but it is fully syncopated 2&3 4&1 just like real cha cha music, so the beats are there if you want to do cha, but it really doesn't sound like cha cha music to me. I would do rumba to this. The speed is a little fast even for American style rumba.

The Drifter's version of this song is played as 1 2&3 4, so it won't work for cha at all unless you want to do weird cha. It's even faster than Buble's version.

I find that song so appealing and yet so annoying when I dance to it. Half the time I want to cha and then my body wants to rhumba -back and forth I go. So it would probably be great as a choreographed routine.

You tend to ignore the 2&3 when dancing, but it is there in the music. Take a close listen to some cha cha songs. It is rare to find a cha song that is missing the 2&3.
