Hi! I'm curious about the difference(s) in technique b/w male and female dancers in international Latin-American (5 dances). Well two teachers that I encountered told me that there are many differences when executing the dance between male and female (and just only to should the masculinity of male & femininity for female when performing). Can anyone give me more details regarding this difference(s)? Thanks.

Danzph. Google Paul Killick. Go to Rumba and read. Look at the moving picture on the opening page. Could you see a lady doing that to a man.

I think my question is not that clear for everybody. My question is on technique execution and other technical areas and not based on projection and styling.

For example, are there any difference between the male and female if they are doing the walk in rumba? How should the male or female starts in regards to footwork?

Danzph. They are to be performed in exactly the same way allowing for the lady to have what is naturally more use of the hips. The ladies higher heel will give an apearance of being different. The execution of the step is exactly the same.Heel high off the floor as it comes underneath the body Turnout of the feet , No gap between the thighs, this is looked after by the turnout of the feet. Use of the inside edge of toe, and not ball flat as it says in the book. To learn correctly you must search for a teacher who knows the style. Don't do as I did and waste so much time with an inferior teacher. Choose wisely.
