I think that I'm not the only person with this problem so I would like to just put it out there and maybe someone has a great suggestion. Dancing in high heels is causing me to have a bunion and I have heard that it is caused by my leg alighnment.Anyone know what I can do?

Hi Not-so-TT
It is possible that incorrect leg alignment can be causing your foot to turn inwards (so-called 'pronation') which will put excessive pressure on your big toes. This may be aggravating your bunion problem. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your legs, just, perhaps, the way you are using them. Your bunion problem may also, of course, be caused by something else.
I've had a lot of trouble with my big toe joints in the past. One day i ,just by chance, mentioned it to my physio who was treating something else. She got a foot expert to check me out. My feet were pronating by 5 degrees because of the way i used my legs and hips. This pronation put a lot of pressure on my big toes, and also took the knee joint out of alignment and made me more susceptible to knee joint pain.
Get someone to check out your leg and foot biomechanics. A small wedge -shaped insert in your shoes can give you the correct feeling and re-educate the use of your legs.
It's worked wonders for me

It could also be the shoes. If they are pointed so that they bend your big toes in toward the other toes, that will stress the big toe joint. I had to go up a size in dance shoes to get enough room in the toe box for my toes to lie straight.

You should probably see a podiatrist. But you can also get various bandages to wear at night to try to correct a bunion. Try footsmart.com or supportplus.com.

i don't know exactly how does it works but i've got the same problem and... keeping my foots warm.. is what helps me:)
I usually have my foots a little bit colder than my body, and I suffered a lot because of this "pronation". But since I wear warm socks (I know it may seems weird or look strange for some:) I have to train really looong to feel THAT pain. And I never let them be cold, while learning or writing here:) Try. I also use this wedges at night. Great relief.
:)
