How to edit music tempo?

Hi All!

Could someone advice me please some software (esp. freeware) to edit the tempo of the music?

I have used "Sound Forge Studio" to edit music and adjust tempos. I found it fairly easy to use. It is inexpensive at around $70. You can order it at www.sonicfoundry.com . (Note: There is also a full version of Sound Forge that costs around $400.)

Under Windows, chronotron or pacemaker which are free plugins for winamp (winamp can be set up to read CD's digitally and will play wav files in addition to mp3's - it will also create new wav files you can burn to CD)

Under mac OSX, 'amazing slow downer' which I believe may cost a small ammount.
