Want to Get Started Dancing Professional Ballroom

I am a 16 year old girl from Perth,WA and very inerested in taking up professional ballroom/latin lessons. Recently, Arsen Kishishian taught basic classes at my highschool and I became interested in pursuing the sport further. I have 13years of dance experience in classical, jazz and cotempory training but am looking for a new style. I would be looking to take it up fulltime and perhaps eventually dance competitively. I would much appreciate any advice on where to take lessons and whom from.

I don't know any teachers in your area, but here are some ways to find them:

-- the dance directory on this site

-- accessdance.com

-- the Yellow Pages under dance studios or dance instruction

-- Google "ballroom dance" and your town (or other towns you'd be willing to commute to for lessons)

-- from accessdance.com or by googling ballroom dance competition and your state, find a pro-am ballroom comp in your area and go to watch. Look for local teachers whose dancing you like and whose students do well. The competition program will tell you their names and what studio they they are from.

Good luck!

PotentialDancer. Google Gilkinson Dance Studio. Jason is the one who did Burn the Floor. Keep Dancing.
