double spin

The double spin was introduced to me in salsa, and now again in hustle. As I turn should my heels be flat on the floor, barely lifted from the floor, or should they be high off the floor....again different teachers, all good but again with different opinions. I was surprised to read on a salsa site that one should turn on one's heels! Is there one rule for heel height for all turns and spins, or does it depend on the dance style, or perhaps vary depending on the step?

I enjoy and learn so much from reading these dance discussion messages.

I agree. Although, I have been known to spin on my heels, I would never teach this as a technique.

That is extremely dangerous-- when you are that back weighted your balance is severly compromised
