We have just been informed of the correct tempo for each of the International Style Dances taking effect from Jan 08. Its good to see at last that the Rumba is to be played at 25 bpm to 27 bpm. But can anybody explain to me any logical reason why there is a difference of two bars. Why not exactly 25 bpm. Jive can now be played at between 42 to 44. At least it is a long overdue ruling in the right direction.

Hi Serendipity I imagine it would be very difficult to have music at exactly a particular BPM.If 27BPM were specified and it worked out at 27.2, competitors would have grounds for complaint. Where is this information?

Phil. Find Dancesport Australia. Then to DSA Rules of Dancesport ( from 1 Jan 2008 ) Scroll to page 37. Apart from this all professionals have been informed of the new ruling.
