hello everyone! does anybody have any advice/tips on how to keep my knees straight while I dance.. The past dancing I have done never required me to have my knees straight so I always tend to bend them .. If anybody has any help that would be great cause it is very hard to break the habit :O(

LFCirillo. What style of dancing have you been doing where the knees are not straight. Go to Learning Centre. Then Forward Walk. Study mid- stride. Then click on icon below and watch the same moving. If in the International style of Standard dancing at mid- stride your knees are not as straight as the model. Then you haven't been trying to get them straight.
Latin is different where the body weight gets to the point of imbalance and the moving foot catches the weight under the body with a very straight knee. Good Luck.

I did competition cheerleading and theater.. in cheerleading the dancing is MUCH different!!!! POLAR opposites!!! in this your knees are constantly bent and yes the judges have a section for dance in a routine its just not ballroom .. and in theater it really depends on the play.. theater dancing is more performing the dance as oppose to actual dancing.. for example .. the musical rent does have dancing in it but wouldn't really stress having a straight knee.. in 42nd street is basically all tap so it depends on the play

LFCirillo. The dancing that you have done should hold you in good steed for whatever style you choose to follow.
Make sure you learn the Basic Techniques correctly. Best of luck to you.
