can dancers reach the profesional level at any age? I am 24, with three years of experience in salsa, and 10 in other various dance forms. If I put the maximum amount of effort into training how likely is it that someone like myself could reach pro salsa dancer status?

Surely the answer has more to do with your dance ability or talent, than with time? How would we know?

First, congrats on getting into your 1st event !

I would not worry too much right now, some things just take time to happen.

practice what you know by yourself as often as you can . if things dont work ask your teacher for some help.

And-- be patient, its not a race , just dont give up and you will succeed

Professional as a teacher, yes. As a competitor it's getting late, but not impossible.

why is it getting late? what are some of the hurdles older competitors face?

24 is not even close to being too late to become a professional competitor! Its all in how hard you work.

The body responses slow down as we get older.

The majority of people who come into dance at a later age ( 25 and above ) are generally not in the same physical condition as someone who has been dancing since they were 5 .

Of course, there are exceptions.

from a teaching standpoint, never too late, competing ?, Standard or Smooth is probably the easier route .

that was GREAT advice.(thanks ) .I'm taking it...yup.

I started Ballroom at 24, and definitely want to make it a career... A career as a professional teacher. I'm not saying I wouldn't love to be on Dancing with the Stars.. but hey, I can be Dancing "Like the Stars" from my heart

I <3 Ballroom Dancing

Best,

Kebrina A.
