My wife and I will be visiting friends in Madison CT between May 15 and 22, and would very much like to dance during our time in the area. We come from Glasgow, Scotland, and are keen ballroom dancers. Can anyone recommend dances at this time? We shall be mobile, planning to hire a car and tour the area. Many thanks...in hope!

Hi. I hope you have a terrific time on your visit to Connecticut. There are two dances happening in East Lyme during the weekend you will be in the area. East Lyme is about a 25 minute drive from Madison.

On Friday, May 16, USA Dance is hosting a "no frills dance" at the East Lyme Community Center, Society Road, East Lyme.

On Saturday May 17, Shoreline Swing is hosting a swing dance with a live band, which is also taking place at the East Lyme Community Center. The bands who play the swing dances typically play some West Coast, Cha Cha, and Foxtrot music in addition to East Coast Swing.

Both dances attract a very friendly crowd of people. The swing dance tends to draw a larger, livelier crowd.
