Nylons

This may sound like a dumb question, but I was wondering if it was customary for women to wear nylons when competing in ballroom, particularly when competing in the Latin style dances.

I'm sure it probably just depends on the person and the outfit, but I could never figure out if the women wore nylons or if they all just naturally had perfect looking legs.

Depends on who you're asking about. The Pros? No they don't wear nylons. Skin-toned or sun tan tone fish net stockings are very popular and cover up the legs very nicely for everyone else. Some non-pro dancers (me included) have worn nylons when competing. I have worn very fine stockings that bare the toes. They stay on your foot by a thin piece that goes between your big toe and the next toe. I prefer bare legs and bare feet in my shoes but I also like to have nice looking legs. As you say, it depends on the woman and her comfort level.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering the same thing too. I know the pros don't wear nylons, but I feel like I'd get a lot of blisters on my feet if I didn't wear mine when I dance.

The reason ?,,,,,,2 fold.

During and after the war in the UK,nylons were not available ( a kinda tan lotion was used ) and, more importantly, they found that the foot would get a better grip .
