I have a band that until recently only worked pubs and clubs. We have started doing dance night gigs with variety of music from waltz to rock n roll and seem to go over quite well but are caught often with questions like do you have progressive jive. so my question is does any one have a song list for all types of dances say, jive, ramba, samba, rock n roll, waltz, vienna waltz, gypsy tap and so on. Even a web site would be excellent.We found some songs that suited some dances and it was so good to be able to tell the audience ahead of the song, what dance to do. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

HarmonicBalance. The Progressive Jive goes well with Rock around the Clock. If your band has those electronic devices which you use for playing the Tempo will be OK. But if you are playing freestyle a Waltz needs to be played at about 28 bpm. Foxtrot the same. Rumba about 26 bpm. If you can find your way to Dancesport Australia. Then to their rule book you would find a list of the correct tempo for all of the dances. The tunes that can be played are endless. If you wanted me to take the floor just play at 28bpm Dance In The Old Fashion Way. Or Somewhere in Time. Rumba Lady in Red. Waltz Moon River I hope this helps.
