Paso Doble technique?

I just started learning the paso doble, and my teacher told me to keep my knees bent all the time, walk with my knees leading, and lean back. But in all the videos I've seen of paso doble, no one does it like that. Am I learning it wrong? Thanks for all of your help :)

Jillian. Google IDSF Grand Slam 05 Paso Double. Knees normal walking or marching. Definately not stiff straight. All heel leads. Little if any rise and fall. No sway on your steps, only shaping. Leaning back. Only if the move requires a shape where the back may be arched. You are creating shapes in space and joining in that world of make believe. That's Dancing . Good Luck.
