Thanks for the support, everybody. I originally put this through partly because it was so funny, I just thought you'd all get a kick out of it. But then something occurred to me...
Obviously, the message is just a troll... If it weren't, he would have given some constructive information. But even a troll can inadvertently provide constructive information if you read between the lines. So even if his only intention was to try to incite with empty rhetoric, he nonetheless accidentally gave me something useful. For example:
The website must somehow mislead at least *some* people to think we're trying to sell classes at some local venue. (Perhaps the Google ads may have played a hand in his experience).
At least some percentage of people, possibly very large, is missing the fact that we have video-based instruction. So I should work harder to make the video more accessible, both in the learning center and even right on the homepage.
To be totally honest, most of the constructive criticism I get (probably somewhere around "99.9999%") is nothing new to me. I've either already heard it, already thought of it myself, already decided to do it but simply haven't gotten around to it, or I can't or shouldn't do it for some reason. The information this guy accidentally provided here is no different... Yes, those things need improving. But I already knew that. I just haven't worked on them yet.
That's not to say I don't welcome criticism, even though I may have heard it before, or thought of it myself. It's good to hear this stuff repeated, to get an idea which things are more important than others. It does affect the way I prioritize things. And every once in a while, I do hear something new that I'd never thought of before. So by all means, bring it on. I'm listening...
