It's about time that someone took a stand on using this Forum to advertise their schools etc. The original intent of this facility is fast being lost. Come on people play fair. We all have our axes to grind, but grind them in the right place.

It has been requested on several occasions that queenbearn not advertise on this site. This means, she is either intentionally stubborn and rude - or doesn't read the complaints of others after she has turned the board into her personal free advertising space. Making the mistake once is acceptable, but this is just ridiculous. If I lived in CA I would NOT attend her studio because she is not behaving in a respectful and professional way. Maybe we should fill up the board with Beahive boycotts!!!

I was on the verge of submitting a complaint to the BBB and got as far as the following reply:

The BBB that will handle your complaint is:
BBB of the Southland
(Colton, CA)
315 N. La Cadena
Colton, CA 92324-2927
Phone: (909)825-7280
Fax: (909)825-6246
Email: info@labbb.org
Web: http://www.labbb.org

when I saw that the entire offending spam advertisement has been wiped out from this bulletin board.

Some people never learn.

Thank you for your support. But what is BBB?

The Better Business Bureau. They have an online facility for consumers to complain about unfair or inappropriate business practices.

If she advertises on this forum again, we should all e-mail her directly (rather than responding on this site) complaining about it and threatening a boycott. That might make her sit up and take notice.

She's done it again.

I agree that the advertisements are annoying but I would hate to ban them completely.

I like to see notices such as the post about the beginners' competition at UC Berkeley (a great idea).

Unfortunately, it's difficult to distinguish between purely commercial posts such as queenbeam's and those of a more public-service nature.

What I find annoying about queenbeam's posts is the number of them. She could easily put all of her information into one.

The keyword is “public service” (or “not for profit”). But even so one would hope that discretion is exercised regarding number and frequency. As another reader has suggested, a website maintained by the organization would be a more appropriate channel for larger volume announcements.

In my book, posts that get churned out weekly about regular activities (for profit), with no attempt made to reply to readers' concerns, qualify as spam.
