I'm sure that it's occurred to you that defining your pool of available talent probably should have been done BEFORE setting a hard date for production.

Good Luck. Dancing nurses are the BEST nurses (can't say the same for physicians).

"I am having difficulty finding constestant for lack of partner."

The premise of those shows is that the producers have hired professional partners/teachers for the contestants.

This is a very common problem among non-dancers trying to get somehow involved WITH dancers, and our particularity and desire for things to go right just as much as the nons often brands us as "snobs", so don't sweat it too much. A lot of nons think that all you have to do is put a coin in, push a button, and things just automatically happen a la 'dance, monkey, dance'... and that just isn't how it works.

What our town did was use the volunteer help of all the local teachers from the studios, then asked volunteers from varyious areas of "celebrity"- TV personalities, commercials that were just too annoying (That Toyota Guy... Gah...), favorite and popular school teachers, people who'd had the same business for a frillion years, etc. Only now... they've run through all of those, and a bunch of people most of us don't even KNOW are on the list for this year- which might get scrapped anyways.

But yeah- always secure the people that MAKE the event FIRST.

Yes, $2000 grand prize, $200 for all eligible contestants. Make up flyers and take to the ballroom, jazz, salsa, hiphop and swing studios. Have an auditioner visit the dancers that are interested and audition them. And it wouldn't hurt to mention the location of this event.

I would be more than happy to help. I actually ran across this website somehow and found your post. I'm a ballroom dance instructor (we'll keep the studio's name out of it ;)
Anyway, where is this taking place?? Hopefully it's in Long Island, NY.

...perhaps these kids (young adults) would be interested. They are from the chicago area. They also dance ballroom/latin. The poster that left a comment to the "pure perfection" comment, goes to the same studio. Perhaps you could contact him/her.
