I am between bronze and silver level in Latin International style. When is the right time to compete? Is it better to start now or wait until I am very comfortable with my dancing. I've been dancing for about a year now.

Ditto to what Laura said. If you want to compete, do it! If you can accept criticism and can face the fact that you may be better or worse than you thought, go for it! Competitions are always an eye-opener for me. They can be either very hard on your ego, or very inspiring! The most important thing is your attitude, not your dance level. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Not that I have much more to say than Laura and twnkltoz, but again, ditto. I entered my first (local) competition 5 months after I started lessons. As nervous as I was, it was still fun. Well, that was 1980 - and I'm still "burning the floor."

Hoofer

Heh heh, as someone who has been dancing and competing for over 5 years let me say that if you wait until you are comfortable with your dancing, that day might never come.

I'd say that if you at all feel like possibly starting now, then go ahead. Try one competition -- preferably a small local one -- and then you'll know for sure if you want to keep doing them, or if you prefer to take more time before trying another, or if you don't even want to compete at all.
