I like to purchase my shoes from Showtimes Dance Shoes. There are many good shoes available, and we all have our preferences. I like the Dansport brand.

If you want to wear the right shoes, you have to get a pair of pumps especially designed for waltz. They do come in different colours (mine are silver) but they are not flashy. Latin shoes come in all colours and designs and you can get some terrific shoes for a reasonable amount of money. Latin shoes tend to be more showy.

Hi!

Check out Very Fine Dance Shoes. They are not of the absolute finest quality, but if you are looking to keep it under $100 and get a variety of styles, I think they will be your best bet. I think Elegance makes some interesting shoes as well. Good luck!

newtodance. Don't rush in to buying. Firstly. Latin shoes can be used for the Standard Style of dancing. But, you will never see a trained dancer dancing in the Standard Style that are wearing Latin Shoes. In the Foxtrot for instance we are supposed to run the toe then the ball of the foot on the floor when going backwards. Who is going to do that with the bare big toe nail scraping the floor. If your into both styles of dancing seriously, you need the two different types of shoes.

Try Ebay. I'm probably going to get blasted for this, but my favorite shoes were custom made to my feet measurements and cost half the price.

You found someone on Ebay to make you customized shoes? Can I have their contact info? I have all sorts of foot problems and have been dying to find someone who can make me a good pair of shoes...

I've been dancing awhile and it has taken me a long time to find the right shoes. I'm opinionated about it now.

Your shoes are very important. Don't skrimp. I had no idea they mattered so much. They will change how you dance and when you find the right pair you will never go back.

Go to a ballroom shoe store and let a professional help you chose the proper pair. It's the only way you are going to get the right fit and they don't fit like your normal shoes fit. My ballroom shoes are 4 sizes smaller than my normal shoes and I need to go down one more size now that I've gotten used to the tightness. They should fit like a second skin and they will stretch as you dance. They have to have flexibility in the sole which your cheap shoes just won't have.

Me...I prefer DanceNaturals because I have thin feet. Ray Rose are wonderful and some of them have been designed by top level dancers to be perfectly balanced. They instantly changed my own balance.

Buy good shoes, don't buy cheap shoes and don't get them until you've tried them on and had a professional evaluate them and take them for a test run.
