Now that I'm back from all my holiday travels (500 miles on the new car), I'd like to wish everyone the best for a safe and happy New Year.

Regards, Hoofer

Thanks, Hoofer! I'm new around here but I already feel right at home. Happy New Year to you, too, and to all Ballroomdancers here!

Dear Tango:

I noted that your're from Maryland. What part? I was just there for the holidays, visiting family. While I was there, my Sister commented that there's really no place around to go dancing where she lives (Sunderland). Any advice?

Hi Hoofer!
I'm from Silver Spring, MD, and I dance at the Chevy Chase Ballroom in Washington DC. She could come join us for the college night social dances there on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. She doesn't have to be a college student to attend. In fact, most people who come are working adults. She could also attend the many group classes this studio offers or take private lessons from excellent coaches and instructors.

If she does a search engine search with keywords ballroom and DC, she should be able to come across the DC area dance web site. It'll have a link to the Chevy Chase ballroom where she'll be able to find more information about this wonderful studio.

Hope to see her there!

Hey, tango's in the same area as I am. I'll second that, the college nights at Chevy Chase Ballroom are probably the most popular social dances with the DC area college crowd. When I say "college crowd" I'm thinking of current undergrads and grad students as well as semi-recent alumni (people I knew as students originally) and some other people who I may not have known from being in school, but are regulars at the college night dances anyway. So in my view the college crowd is pretty big even though tango's probably right that many of the dancers aren't current students anymore. I think CCB has a site located on DCDanceNet.com so you could try there for information. DCDanceNet has lots of info about all sorts of dancing in the DC area, so it's a good site to check out anyway. I hope this helps.
