Help! Showcase in two weeks and I need a good source for dancewear support undergarments, such as hosiery, foundations, etc. Any good ones? Please advise ASAPhellodolly551@aol.com

I'm not sure of anything specific for dancewear, but you should be able to find some good support undergarments at a local lingerie or smaller department store--you know, the kind with the old ladies that actually measure you to get the bra to fit right! I have an "UnderWonder" brand all in one that works well. Of course it depends on the dress you're wearing, some of them have built in support. One thing--don't have so much support that you cut off your circulation. You'll likely sit a bit at your showcase, and I've found that the "Almost Bare" hose by No Nonsense are the only ones that keep me comfortable after a day of dancing, sitting, dancing, sitting. Good luck!

Personally, I can't stand wearing pantyhose. they don't keep my legs warm enough and they're so thin that things rub unpleasantly. I wear microfiber ballet tights from Bloch, Mikhail Baryishnakov, Capezio, and Danskin. I like either the Capezios or the Danskins the best, I can't ever remember unless I go look, but the tights are very soft and supple and have a matte finish.

For foundations it depends on the dress. But when I want to wear something I've been wearing an underwire shaper. It fits like a bodysuit built into an underwire bra. I can't recall the brand name and I bought it so long ago that I can't read the label, but I got it at Nordstrom. Other times I've worn a regular bra, and still other times I've worn a special bra that has all clear straps. At one point I wore a Merry Widow -- which is a long-line (extends over tops of hips) boned underwire bra. It was extremely comfortable and gave me a very smooth line.

Just make sure you don't get something so tight that you bulge out of it in funny places, that looks smooth under your dress and doesn't show any where, and most of all make sure you can move in it!!

For all my dancing I use Legg's brand sheer energy pantyhose. They have quite a bit of spandex in them so they retain their shape for 8+ hours.

I also agree with 1a2 3a4. Local stores will be able to give you more attention for a custom fit. Be sure to bring your outfit with you.

Questions: What are you wearing - regular evening dress or costume? What type of dance are you doing - latin or smooth? Answers to these questions depend on what I might wear for my basic foundation.
