My comp was yesterday so I wanted to update you all. I found out we won't get results for a few days, I'm not sure if this is normal, but even then it may not mean much. I only danced in the Smooth Multi-dance and there were only 7 couples in 4 heats, each of us at a different level, I was "newcomer open Silver", the only one at that level, so someone said that means I'll take first (and only). But it went very well. There were some outstanding Gold dancers but many were bronze and silver, similar to my level so it wasn't too intimidating and thanks to Ballroom Chick, I looked terrific.
My instructor and I both felt that we did about as well as I could. I didn't have any serious issues, smiled (thanks to you all) and had fun. When I knew I made a mistake, people said they couldn't tell, I remained calm and smooth. Both my instructors were very pleased. The only bad part is that despite our plan to adjust for my arm, adrenaline took over and I went all out. Good for the dance, but bad for my arm. When I sat down, the pain hit, but I iced it and just tried to suck it up. I think I was so relieved that I could dance as my arm had improved the morning of the comp, I wasn't too nervous at all.
I believe I'll compete again, but there aren't many opportunities in our area, so I'll have to wait and see. Thanks again.
