Do you archive the variations of the week so that you can view them beyond the week they are posted?

I have tried to save the video variations but have not been succesful. I have the "free" version of Quicktime. Are you using the upgraded Quicktime Pro player? When I do what you have suggested it works fine until the next variation is introduced, then what I saved is changed to the new variation and the old variation is gone. What am I doing wrong?

In reply to Lee - if the variation is in your temporary internet folder as "variation.mov", then you have a suitable version of Quicktime.I don't have any special "professional" version.
I think you may be leaving out the step of re-naming the file.
Find the "variation.mov" file, then re-name it (as "Tango1.mov", or whatever) and then copy it to your "dancing clips" folder.
Once you've done this, there's no way the next variation can get at it.

Here is how I save the variation of the week. It's a little complicated at first, but after you understand it, it's not too bad, and it does work.
Quicktime will save the movies in cache, but first you have to tell Quicktime to do this.
Open Quicktime, select: Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences. Check "Save movies in disk cache".
When you look in Netscape cache (Internet Explored may be different, the files won't have extensions, so you have to find the file. Netscape cache is usually located in: windows/application data/mozilla/profiles/your profile/some gobbly-gook name.slt/cache. Look there immediately after downloading, sort files by date, and look for a large file that was just downloaded. Add the .mov extension. Now you can open it and verify that you have the right file. Move it to another folder.
If you save the text by saving the web page, you will find that you will be unable to access the file if you are not hooked to the internet or Ballroom Dancers is down. (Netscape tries to access the web site when it opens the file.) To avoid this frustration and to guarantee that I permanently have the file, I save it in Word format. Select the text on the web page by dragging, copy it, and paste it into Word. Word 2000 will copy the whole table, as it exists on the web page. Delete the invisible links that get copied. Save a copy of the dance image and paste that into the document also. It makes a nice reference.

Thank you Jerry and Phil for your assistance. I was able to do what you suggested. Can't wait for the variation to change to see if it works.

You can easily do this yourself. If you use "Quicktime" to view the variation, you will find it has been downloaded into your "Temporary Internet" folder as a file called "variation.mov" You can search for this if your computer is set up differently.
Just save this somewhere with an appropriate name and bingo!
Saving the printed steps is not so easy. I print them off and keep them in a folder with the file name for reference.
It's a great resource
