The Lambeth Walk was a dance done in England many years ago; just wondering how it was done.

It sometimes gets dragged out at parties as something for the non-dancers, along with things like the Conga and the Hokey Cokey. It no doubt featured in some Millenium celebrations and the Queen's Jubilee street parties last year

The Streetswing site has a good description. The version I remember is a combination of the two descriptions. The turning walks being four quicks in each direction and then a variant of the samba walk. People tend to do their own thing but everyone ends up together for the knee slapping in time with "Doin' the Lambeth Walk" and the thumb jerk - Oy!
