Hello,
If you are visiting Washington, DC in the future, I would like to introduce you to my group - James Jelasic & His Dance Band. We perform in the Melrose Room at the Park Hyatt Washington at 24th and M Streets, NW every Friday and Saturday evening year-round from 7 - 11pm. We are currently in our twelfth year there specializing in Ballroom Society Dance music of the 1930's, 40's and 50's. Over the years, we have acquired quite a large international following. With myself, a Fulbright Scholar in classical music, at the grand piano, the group also includes a sax/clarinet, acoustic bass and percussion. On Fridays, we perform mostly Latin rhythm selections - rumba, tango, bossa nova, cha-cha, beguine and light sambas. No salsa (just in case some people ask). On Saturdays, we include the Latin rhythms, but add swing, waltzes and fox trots. The dining room is formal, upper end and recommended by The Washington Post's main food critic, Tom Sietsema, as one of his favorite establishments for combining fine food and fine dancing. He has written about my dance band twice in the past few years. Reservations are a must for Saturday evenings as they often sell out. The Melrose Bar is adjacent to the dance floor and guests drink or have lite-fare and dance with no cover charge. Recommended attire is coat and tie.
Please feel free to contact me if you would have any questions. My phone # is 703.532.7200 and the web site is www.BlackTieArts.com.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration. I thought that perhaps your readers might be interested in this venue.
Sincerely,
James Jelasic
