I hope I can write this short and brief. I had no trouble with timing in Modern, but Latin, the Rumba in particular, timing wise did n't come naturally. I set up in front of my stereo a tape recorder which has a built in exterior mike. I played on my stereo a Rumba, on the other set I recorded, and super imposed onto the tape my own counting 1234. I counted for 8 bars then did n't for eight bars, Then picked it up again. Then I would play the tape, dance my routine and see if after the no counting part I was still on the correct beat. Later I skipped the voice counting and just tapped with a spoon tha first beat of each bar. I did the same for a friend who was having a dreadfull time hearing the correct beats to dance to in the Cha, It worked for them also. I got the idea from a Japanese disk in which at the end of the disk they played a series of music with the melody screened out leaving just the rhythm only.I'm not real sure but I believe the disk was by the Hisao Sudou and The New Beat Orchestra on Con Disk Label.
