coaching vs. teaching

ok, i wanted to see if anyone could help me with something. the other day in my lesson, i was working on batucattas in cha cha, and my teacher was making me show him how i did it. he said "I am no longer your teacher, but your coach, there is a big difference between the two."

if there is a difference, do you know what it is? is there really a difference?

I was overwhelmed and honored to discover the difference the day one of my teachers asked my opinion on certain aspects of his dancing.

Coaching is sharing your external viewpoint with someone. Teaching is telling them how to do stuff. Well, that only slightly touches on it - but I think it's something like that. A teacher shows you how to do something, a coach helps you do what you know better.
