Hi, I'm in Vista, CA (So Cal), and I'm very interested in switching from my classcially trained past to ballroom dancing, and I have NO IDEA what I need to do to get into the Ballroom Dancing community. I'm 16, so I basically can start at the very beginning, and I really would appreciate it if someone could give me a few tips on how to get into the business! Thanks!!

Are you wanting to start learning ballroom for fun, for competition or to eventually teach? You said "business"... I start for fun or competition you just have to find a studio and sign up for class

I think it is awesome that you are interested in taking up ballroom dancing at such a young age. My recommendation would be to try to find a studio close to you and start out with getting comfortable with the basics, which I'm sure won't be difficult for you, already having classical training. From there try to find coaches in your area that you can work with. Try getting involved in small competions within the studio you find (take avantage of everything you possibly can). Once you've gotten some experience with it all try posting an ad for a partner and go on from there.

I live in San Diego and I can recommend Champion Ballroom. You can learn for eithr social or competition and there's a group class for younger people if private lessons are too expensive. Good luck and happy dancing!

I've visited Champion Ballroom before! I live near Chicago but I was in San Diego on vaca and went to a party there. It was a GREAT place! A very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I want to go and visit again. The teachers were very very kind. I hope I can get to see them all again someday soon.
