1d. Basic Movement In Place

The Basic Movement In Place is more of a handy teaching tool than a dance pattern used in practical application, and is therefore excluded from the precedes & follows charts. Used primarily to familiaize students with the basic rhythm and weight changes of all Cha Cha basics, it is, as the name implies, a series of steps taken in place (feet together) to the count of 2,3,4&1.

STEP#COUNTDESCRIPTIONNOTES
Begin Closed facing position, feet together, weight on right foot.

12Transfer weight to left foot in place.
23Transfer weight to right foot in place.
3-104&1,2,3,4&1Repeat steps 1-2 four times.
